A Chesnut Grove is located behind the practice fields on the Manchester Valley campus. Informational posters explain the importance of having these groves. About 30 students in the fall and spring take the responsibility to plant and maintain the grove. There are also research opportunities involving tree survival, fungal virulence, and GPS mapping that students can explore. The Chestnut Grove is part of a partnership between Carroll County Public Schools and The American Chestnut Foundation.

Every year, Manchester Valley's  NHS chapter organizes an annual campus clean up day. Trash is collected, invasive species are removed, and new plants are put in. An article about this day is included in "School-Wide Environmental Behavior". This event involves the ENTIRE student body!
