A  Shout  Out

To All Those Who Have Helped Us

Stay Green Along The Way

  • Mr. Thomas Clowes, Principal Manchester Valley High School. Because of your leadership, two like-minded Maryland Green Schools came together as one.  Thank-you for letting our students  live our green dream.

  • Ms. Gina Felter, Principal of the Outdoor School Carroll County Public School and former Vice Principal to both Manchester Valley High School and North Carroll High School.  You knew us both before we were green.  Without your continued guidance and infectious love of all things green, we could not have done this for so long without you.

  • Mr. Joe Guerra, Inerim Principal and Vice Principal of Manchester Valley High School.  Thank-you for  keeping us on the green path and encouraging us us to try new green things.

  • Mr. Jim Peters, Supervisor of Science, Carroll County Public Schools. Without you, our funding and vision for all things Aquaponic would have not come to fruition.  Your belief and practice of all things green has seen us through many black times.  A very special thanks to you.

  • Ms. Kim Dolch, Director of Secondary Schools and former Prinicipal of North Carroll High School. #5   Green is not an adjective.  Green is a verb.  Action is imperative for our students at Manchester Valley High School to understand sustainability and everyday care for our environment.

#1 Green Is Fun.  Students like to be outside.  At Manchester Valley High School we have a culture of being outside. Whether in a math class, art, or even at lunch, we recognize the value of the natural world.

#2 Green is yesterday, today, and  tomorrow.  Learning to be green takes a lifetime and that is why students have environmental opportunities in every grade and academic level.  That is a commitment we at Manchester Valley High School are willing to make for our students.

A special thank-you to the Maryland Association of Outdoor Educators for the continued guidance with our Maryland Green School recertification.

#4 Our students and staff engage in school-wide healthy practices, which one of our favorites is to encourage all to get outside whenever possible.

#3 We pride ourselves in educating the school and community about every day energy conservation practices and we monitor changes in the watershed, including stream water quality surveys.

(Left) Special thanks to student Zach Goldman for help with the computer wix site and his water quality research in the spring of 2016.

Preparing for the annual Enviorthon, our team has won second place two years in a row.  Thumbs up to all their hard work!
